Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly specialist psychological therapist to join the Clinical Health Psychological Services (CHPS) at NELFT North East London Foundation Trust. The role involves co-leading a Long Term Conditions (LTC) Psychology Service for adults and their families living with Type I & II Diabetes, Respiratory Conditions, and Coronary Heart Disease.

Main Duties of the Job

To provide a specialist psychological therapy assessment and treatment service for patients with LTC, carers, and their families, who are referred with complex mental health difficulties in relation to their physical health. Delivering at least 2-3 high-quality specialist clinical interventions in line with national guidance.

About the Role

The postholder will be an integral member of the wider LTC multidisciplinary team and will work closely with other team members to provide a fully integrated holistic service. The role will involve conducting specialist assessments and offering evidence-based psychological therapy interventions to patients with LTC and their carers or families.

Key Responsibilities

  1. To provide a specialist psychological therapy assessment and treatment service for patients with LTC, carers, and their families.
  2. To deliver at least 2-3 high-quality specialist clinical interventions in line with national guidance.
  3. To work closely with other team members to provide a fully integrated holistic service.
  4. To conduct specialist assessments and offer evidence-based psychological therapy interventions to patients with LTC and their carers or families.

Person Specification

Clinical

Essential

  • Registration with UK professional body as HCPC clinical/counselling psychologist or counsellor/psychotherapist with a UK body (eg BABCP, UKCP, BACP)
  • Experience working in at least 2 to 3 evidence-based therapeutic interventions

Desirable

  • Additional specialist training in advanced therapy skills, such as CBT, mindfulness, group, couples, and family interventions

Professional/Clinical

Essential

  • Experience working with complex mental health presentations and risk
  • Experience of delivering psychological therapy in physical health services

Desirable

  • Experience working with specific conditions-diabetes, cardiac, and respiratory

Clinical/Professional

Essential

  • Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience with triage and signposting referrals

Desirable

  • Experience in undertaking audits, QI projects, and/or service development
  • Experience in providing supervision and consultation
