We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Fabrication Specialist to join our team at BAE Systems in Portsmouth. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with experience in metal fabrication, willing to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the repair and refit of naval and commercial vessels.
Salary: £34,640 depending on qualifications and experience, with overtime and shift allowance available.
About the Role:
- You will be responsible for fabricating metal components using various techniques, including cutting, bending, and welding.
- Your expertise in sheet metal fabrication will enable you to create accurate and high-quality products.
- You must be able to follow instructions, use measuring tools, and mark out sheet plate/extrusions accurately.
- Additionally, you will be required to operate machinery such as guillotines, rolling machines, drilling machines, and folding machines, including CNC operation.
- Training/Qualification can be provided for tack welding.
- Experience in use of strong-backs and fairing aids to prevent distortion is essential.
- You will also be responsible for bending and forming of various gauges and types of plate.
- An understanding of Q.C inspection or process experience is required.
- You may be asked to work/travel outside of the main location occasionally.
Your Skills and Experience:
- Good hand tool knowledge and experience in sheet metal fabrication and different types of materials such as aluminium, stainless steel, and steel.
- Ability to interpret and work from drawings and guidance as required.
