About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and caring Healthcare Assistant to join our dynamic Outpatient Department at Spencer Private Hospitals Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the maintenance of patients' hygiene needs, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained.
  • Report any changes in patients' condition or care protocol to the trained staff.
  • Undertake HLS training annually and recognize deteriorating patients and assist if an emergency situation occurs.
  • Make legible entries in patient documentation, including instructions, requests for investigations, changes in care protocols or patient conditions, with all entries being counter-signed by a trained nurse.
  • Convey any verbal instructions and messages to the appropriate person.
  • Participate in Face to Face and Online Training and Staff Meetings.
  • Assist with the handling and movement of patients in line with Manual Handling Regulations as trained.
  • Escort patients to other departments.
  • Undertake observations of blood pressure, pulse, temperature, urinalysis, height and weight, BMI and glucose monitoring and recording results in documentation and conveying results to a trained nurse. Ensure out of range results are immediately conveyed to trained staff.
  • Perform diagnostics as part of the pre-assessment clinic process.
  • Collection, recording and delivery of specimens within competence.

  • Assist with and participate in multiple procedure clinics within competence.
  • Assist with medication administration of eye drops only in eye clinics only when deemed competent and trained and in line with competencies and when competency documents are complete.

  • Stock up the unit with consumables and monitor stock levels.
  • Participate in the monitoring, servicing and checks of equipment and report any faults in equipment.
  • Undertake dressing procedures following local recommendations, complying with infection control principles and practice.
  • Give accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within own competence.
  • Provide support and encouragement to patients to promote independence as appropriate.
  • Act as a chaperone, when requested.
  • Preparation of documentation as directed by trained staff.
  • Participate in OPD Administration Tasks.
