Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Financial Taxation Specialist to join our team in the UK and Europe. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the preparation and submission of tax returns for our UK and European operations, liaising with tax advisors, and designing internal controls to support regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Tax by preparing corporation tax returns for the UK and European entities, in conjunction with external tax advisors.
  • Maintain and improve transfer pricing files, reflecting the operations of the company and its branches.
  • Populate the tax risk register and implement mitigating controls.
  • Design, document, and review tax controls to support general risk management.
  • Produce payment on account estimates for periodic settlement to HMRC and European Tax Authorities.
  • Assist the Head of Tax, Finance Director, and Financial Controllers in managing taxation activities relating to the UK and European operations.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with taxation regulatory changes, such as BEPS Pillar 2.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to review existing reporting processes and improve automation and efficiency, reducing risk.
  • Support the production of tax disclosures in the statutory accounts and other regulatory reporting.
  • Design and develop process improvements to ensure efficient and accurate data production.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial taxation, preferably within an insurance company.
  • Working knowledge of tax accounting under UK GAAP and/or IFRS.
  • Experience with Lloyd's Syndicates and insurance companies.
  • Awareness of similar tax regimes in European locations.
  • Advanced analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional business writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix reporting environment.
