Are you an accomplished professional looking for a new challenge? Do you have a passion for financial reporting and accounting? We are currently seeking a Financial Reporting and Accounting Lead to join our Public Sector team at Grant Thornton UK.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of financial reporting and accounting policies and procedures, as well as providing expert advice and guidance to clients. Key responsibilities include:

  • Critical review and analysis of draft public sector financial statements.
  • Drafting responses and acting as consultee on complex or unique financial reporting queries.
  • Leading the development of internal guidance and training materials.
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with audit teams and stakeholders.
  • Collaboration with colleagues in our Financial Reporting and Audit Quality teams.

Requirements include:

  • Professional Accounting qualification (CIPFA, ACA, ICAS, CA or ACCA).
  • Post-qualification experience in delivering External Audit services to Local Authorities and Health bodies or from within a Local Government or Health finance function.
  • Expertise in IFRS accounting standards and their implementation in the public sector.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting in the public sector.
  • Project management skills.

We offer a competitive salary package, including an estimated annual salary of £65,000 - £85,000 depending on experience, plus benefits such as pension scheme and professional development opportunities.
