About the Role

Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Materials Buyer to join a stable team of a North Kent based Building contractor. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procure high-quality materials and equipment hire for competitive prices in a timely fashion.
  • Analyse current processes and suppliers to ensure materials are being scheduled with the right lead times and competitive suppliers.
  • Work closely with the quantity surveyor, estimator, contracts managers, and Site teams to ensure seamless procurement processes.
  • Shape the role to suit the company's needs, with autonomy to make decisions and drive process improvements.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a buyer with a main contractor, Groundworker, or civils contractor.
  • Understanding of Groundworks, Surfacing, and hard landscaping.
  • Comfortable liaising with builders merchants and suppliers.
  • I.T literate and able to manage workload independently.
