About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Stroke Medicine Consultant to join our team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in providing senior clinical decision making on our Stroke Ward, designed for patients not appropriate for immediate discharge or transfer.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide senior clinical decision making on a Stroke Ward, including consultant ward rounds and board rounds.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours Stroke Consultant Rota.
  • Supervise and train junior medical staff.
  • Ensure the provision of good standards of practice and care, as described in the GMC Guidance 'Duties of a Doctor', are followed at all times.

Person Specification
  • GMC registration and Medical Degree.
  • At least 1 year of experience on a Stroke Unit and 1 year of experience on-call on a Stroke Unit.
  • Experience working in TIA/Outpatient Area, experience working on call, and experience providing training to junior staff.
