About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Maternity Care Assistant to join our Neonatal Unit at University Hospital Wishaw. As a key member of our care team, you will provide exceptional support to women and their families in the antenatal and postnatal period.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in support of and supervised by a registered midwife.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of care.
  • Support women and their families in the antenatal and postnatal period.
  • Participate in practice development programs as required.
Requirements
  • Formal qualification at HNC Level or equivalent level of experience in a health/education/social care environment.
  • Awareness of health legislation relevant to the clinical area.
  • Knowledge of the clinical speciality/area process, techniques, and/or activities relevant to the client group.
  • Ability to apply a range of technical and practical skills.
  • Effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Time management, planning, and organisational skills.
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology.
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn and develop new skills and maintain a record of learning.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • SNNEB qualification or approved SVQ/HNC training program.
  • Commitment to ongoing personal development.
  • Previous experience in a neonatal setting.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to perform tasks efficiently and effectively within a busy environment.
  • Experience of infant feeding.
