Job Overview

The Greater Manchester Mental Health team is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Consultant Psychiatrist to join their multidisciplinary team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of complex mental health cases.

Main Duties

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking assessments of referrals and admissions to the service
  • Diagnosing and formulating management plans in complex presentations
  • Providing management in treatment-resistant and complex presentations
  • Assessing and managing risk, including vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety, and risk of harm to others
  • Preparing Mental Health Review Tribunal and Managers' Hearings reports and attending subsequent hearings
  • Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including external partners
  • Leading clinical decision-making to ensure the delivery of high-quality care

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A medical degree
  • MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • Specialist Register
  • GMC registration
  • Approved Clinician status (desirable)
