Electrical Control Systems Technician

Westlakes Recruit is seeking an experienced EC&I Technician with a background in Nuclear to join our team on a permanent basis, located in Cumbria.
Job SummaryWe are looking for a skilled EC&I Technician to assemble control panels and control systems to meet the clients' requirements for functionality and quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and mechanical components, with experience in reading schematic drawings and assembling wiring, switches, cables, and other mechanical or electrical pieces.
Key Responsibilities- Assemble control panels and control systems to meet the clients' requirements for functionality and quality.
- Work with electrical engineers to solve problems related to the assembly process and the functioning of the panels and components.
- Install the completed product or panel on a client's site.
- Assist in the production of technical files and lifetime records.
- Carry out full testing, including witness testing of control panels.
- Produce red pen mark-up drawings and use AutoCAD to produce as-built drawings.
- Communicate with project engineers/managers regarding any related requirements or changes that require action.
- Produce bills of materials and quotations.
- Ensure calibrations are successfully carried out.
- Carry out and maintain workshop equipment inspections.
- Protect and support the company's reputation in public with customers, suppliers, and other interested parties.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
- Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
- Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications.
- Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
- Time-served electrical technician with C&G qualifications or equivalent.
- Qualified to HNC level in a relevant electrical discipline.
- Ability to assemble, wire, and test control panels.
- Ability to facilitate witness testing.
- Ability to safely install control panels and systems.
- Ideally with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a relevant environment.
- PLC knowledge would be a benefit but is not essential.
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD would be beneficial but not essential.
- Knowledge of electrical/electronic systems.
- 17th Edition - City and Guilds Qualification.
