Job Title: Apprentice - Maintenance Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Building Maintenance Engineer to provide a building support service at our main office facility in Hounslow. The successful candidate will work under the direction of a manager to cover planned and preventative maintenance for a 3-month contract, which may become permanent.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conducting inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire safety equipment, and building fabric.
  2. Diagnosing issues in building services, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions promptly.
  3. Responding to urgent maintenance requests and providing timely resolutions during critical situations.
  4. Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment manuals, and inventory.
  5. Supporting an out-of-hours responsive maintenance service covering key buildings.
  6. Supervising and controlling approved contractors at an operational level, organizing site visits, site access, health and safety, permits to work, work quality, and completion of service visit sheets.
Requirements:
  1. Proven experience in maintaining and repairing HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building fabric.
  2. C&G/NVQ in Mechanical/Electrical.
  3. A knowledge of current health and safety and fire safety regulations/legislation.
  4. Experience of maintenance practice in a similar large building and an ability to recognize and diagnose likely areas of weakness and equipment failure.
  5. Hands-on experience of inspecting and operating fire safety systems and the ability to accurately check operational status and involve technical staff.
  6. Knowledge of systems such as HVAC, CAFM, Dali, BMS, and fire safety.
  7. Experience of working on own initiative and prioritization of work to meet deadlines in a busy office environment.
