Transmission and Distribution Engineer - Principal/Technical Director Level

At GHD, we're seeking a highly skilled Transmission & Distribution Engineer to join our UK team. As a Principal or Technical Director, you'll lead and inspire teams delivering high-impact projects, fostering excellence in transmission and distribution system design and engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-regional collaboration with our Australian business, ensuring seamless project execution under our global service delivery model.
  • Provide technical expertise in power, protection, control system, earthing & bonding, plant systems, and telecommunication engineering to develop resilient and innovative energy networks.
  • Oversee projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Ensure rigorous compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, championing best practices in every project.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and key point of contact for technical expertise and project delivery.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including proposal preparation, client presentations, and the expansion of GHD's portfolio in the energy sector.
  • Mentor and develop future leaders within the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in transmission and distribution engineering at a Principal or Technical Director level. Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) desirable.
  • Proven track record of leading complex projects, with a strong focus on technical excellence, client satisfaction, and commercial success.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and deliver innovative solutions in high-pressure environments.
  • Adept at navigating the regulatory landscape and ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience of cross-regional working/global service delivery models.
