Cardiac Surgeon

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to fill the role of Registrar ST3+ in our Cardiac Surgery Service at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated trainee to consolidate their clinical skills in a centre with a strong track record of research and training.

The successful candidate will work co-operatively with colleagues and peers to provide a quality service at Registrar level within Cardiac Surgery. They will be supported to meet their own professional development alongside service needs.

• To work as a Specialist Registrar (ST3+) in Cardiac Surgery at Glenfield Hospital for a period of 12 months, renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
• To support the delivery of high-quality patient care in Cardiac Surgery, working collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

• A minimum of 2 years' experience at Registrar level or equivalent in Cardiac Surgery.
• Full GMC registration (current or eligible for) and MRCS or applicant's national equivalent.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• A commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, with a focus on delivering high-quality educational experiences.

Our Cardiac Unit is one of the largest and most technically advanced in the country, performing over 1000 cardiac cases per year. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on complex cases, including TAVI, recognised ECMO centre, and all aspects of adult cardiac surgery.

The role requires a high degree of competence in all basic medical skills, coupled with evidence of manual dexterity necessary to perform procedures. We offer a supportive and inclusive work environment, with opportunities for career progression and professional development.
