Supportive Educational Professional for SEN School in Andover

Andover, Hampshire, United Kingdom Academics Ltd Full time

Academics Ltd is recruiting a Supportive Educational Professional to join their team at a residential SEN school in Andover.

The school caters for young people aged 11-19 years with Autism or who have strong emotional / behavioural traits of the Autistic Spectrum, typically high functioning Autism (Asperger Syndrome) and other associated needs such as ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and social, emotional and mental health needs. All young people in the school will have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant to support pupils across the school in small groups and on a 1:1 basis. While experience of working in an SEN school would be beneficial, this is not essential. What is needed is an understanding, empathetic and calm individual who can build positive relationships and support the teacher in meeting the individual needs of the students, in line with their individualised learning and care plans. These plans allow each student to have access to a challenging, broad, relevant and differentiated curriculum that is designed to be Asperger Syndrome friendly.

The main school building is a large country house set in 8 acres of grounds in Grateley, which provide a beautiful and secure setting for outdoor activities. Ideally suited to a driver due to the rural location.

To be considered for this position, you must have Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) Grades C or above or Grades 4 - 9. The salary for this role is approximately £25,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.

If you are a caring and supportive professional seeking a full-time position in the Andover area, please apply with a copy of your updated CV.
