Senior Buyer Role

Urban Connect LTD is seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to join our team. As a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and ordering materials, services, and plant equipment essential for the delivery of our projects in the Water, Transport, Energy, and Built Environment sectors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing, with experience in the construction/civil engineering industry. You will collaborate with project teams to understand their procurement needs and provide timely support, ordering necessary construction materials, plant, or related services across all operational sectors.

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Procurement duties:
  • Collaborate with project teams to understand their procurement needs and provide timely support.
  • Ensure that procurement activities align with project schedules and budget constraints.
  • Develop strong relationships with key suppliers and category leads for both frameworks and the wider supply chain.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to secure cost-efficient solutions.
  • Support the development of the sustainability and social impact agenda.
Reporting duties and record keeping:
  • Support the provision of monthly spend reports.
  • Support the delivery of department KPIs.
  • Submit detailed cost analysis to senior management and site teams.
Key measures & targets:
  • Monitor and manage best value achieved through procurement activities.
  • Monitor and manage order placement for delivery on time and in full.

The successful candidate will have a strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and people skills. They will be able to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and have a full UK driving licence.
