About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Service Emergency Response Coordinator to join our team at Wakefield Council.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage emergency incidents and respond to calls from the public and other agencies.
  • Gather information, assess risks, and make decisions to mobilize operational crews and inform other agencies of need for support services.
  • Provide fire safety advice to callers, including determining risks to their safety and advising on immediate action until Firefighters arrive.
  • Work effectively in a dynamic environment, making decisions based on risk assessment and communicating effectively with colleagues and the public.

Requirements:

  • GCSE grade C English and Maths (or equivalent level 2 numeracy and literacy qualification) or NVQ level 3 emergency fire services control operations qualification.
  • Experience in a similar role or confident and effective telephone communication skills.
  • Empathetic and good listening skills.
  • Aptitude and motivation to undertake an initial training course.
  • Commit to continuous professional development.
