Job Overview

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Breast Screening and Imaging Matron to lead and support our dedicated team in delivering exceptional care. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the breast screening and imaging services, ensuring high-quality patient care and innovative service delivery.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist support for women recalled to assessment and specialist nursing advice and education.
  • Support the delivery of autonomous, evidence-based, individualized care through holistic needs assessment, planning, and evaluation.
  • Act as an expert practitioner, demonstrating and utilizing specialist knowledge, skills, and expertise within breast care and across service boundaries.
  • Assess patients' information needs and provide relevant information to meet those needs.
  • Troubleshoot during the patient pathway to ensure patient safety, optimized care, and a high-quality patient experience.
  • Influence the patient care pathway, referring to other professionals and signposting to other agencies as appropriate.
  • Ensure high levels of patient satisfaction, promote patient experience feedback, and implement required actions.
  • Ensure privacy and dignity of patients in the provision of nursing care and clinical practice of all staff.
  • Lead on the effective management of the helpline, ensuring queries are actioned in a timely manner.
  • Work with PALS to ensure any complaints are managed proactively.
  • Support the Health of Breast Screening and Senior Divisional Management Team in the management of incidents and complaints.
