Contechs is recruiting on behalf of a leading luxury car manufacturer based in Crewe who are seeking a Prototype & Workshop Planning Engineer to join their team.

We are seeking an engineer for prototype and workshop planning. Reporting to the functional manager, the successful candidate will be empowered and responsible for end-to-end planning and delivery of R&D development vehicle build and vehicle update projects.

Main Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of project management principles and understanding of all vehicle components and their packaging requirements, including hybrid and EV powertrains.
  • Ability to plan strategically and tactically to meet customer demand.
  • Understanding of engineering, production, and LQC processes to support a variety of build activities.
  • Understanding of rapid manufacturing techniques to support prototype builds and workshops requirements.
  • Understanding of the prototype build and press car preparation is advantageous.

Qualifications / Skills Required

  • Defining, planning, and steering the project.
  • Creating plans and agreeing the delivery model.
  • Allocating and securing resource commitments.
  • Monitoring and tracking the project's progress.
  • Controlling costs within approved budget.

The Function

  • The whole vehicle prototype and workshops planning team is responsible for the development of strategic and tactical plans that deliver all prototypes, simulators, press, and media vehicles and development activities.
  • The agreed plans ensure delivery to customer expectations are met using in-house and external resources.
  • The objective of the prototype and workshops planning team is to understand the global business demand, create and agree the delivery model, and identify and resolve all risks that may affect the delivery to commitments agreed with the customer.
  • The team succeeds by understanding the customer needs, translating the needs into in-house and external build plans, and building strong working relationships with the engineering functions and our group platform partners.
