Job Title: Principal Structural Engineer

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Principal Structural Engineer to join our team in the Midlands region. As a key member of our Structures Team, you will be responsible for leading the growth and development of our buildings business, providing management, design, and analysis solutions to building structures problems.

The successful candidate will play a key role in a range of structural engineering design projects for public and private sector clients, with a focus on delivering high-quality results on time and budget. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, drawing on resources from other UK offices, and will be expected to have a keen interest in building structures and a strong desire to develop commercially.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and supervise the preparation of structural calculations by junior engineers.
  • Oversee and verify the suitability of any structural analysis and design using both computer and hand techniques.
  • Contribute to the independent technical review of analyses prepared by others.
  • Manage project delivery to provide clients with results on time and budget.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers undertaking design of structures using current British Standards and Eurocodes.
  • Develop innovative solutions to complex problems and provide high-level value engineering led technical expertise.
  • Ensure all quality and environmental aspects of the project are identified and addressed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Masters in Structural Engineering (preferable).
  • Chartered or achievable within the next year.
  • 10-15 years of experience working in the delivery of Structural Engineering design projects.
  • Essential understanding of project finance, project delivery, and contracts.
  • Preferable experience of design in commercial, retail, hospitality, residential, manufacturing, and high-rise projects using latest design and construction technologies.
