We are seeking a skilled High-Performance Computing Systems Administrator to join our team at AWE Plc.

Overview

AWE Plc is a leading company in the field of nuclear energy and defence, and we are looking for an experienced professional to support our high-performance computing needs.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing system administration support for our HPC supercomputers, working as part of the High-Performance Computing Group to ensure the smooth operation of our systems.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is £38,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on your qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for a range of benefits, including a contributory pension scheme, 9-day working fortnight, and opportunities for professional development.

Job Description

This is a hands-on role that requires a strong understanding of Linux-based systems, scripting skills, and awareness of computer security concepts. You will be responsible for deploying and managing our HPC systems, monitoring their performance and reliability, and developing in-house tools to support platform administration.

You will also have the opportunity to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication skills and problem-solving abilities. Experience with HPC clustered computing, parallel file systems, and first- and second-line user support would be advantageous.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in system administration
  • Strong understanding of Linux-based systems
  • Scripting skills (preferably Python and Bash)
  • Awareness of computer security concepts
