We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Management Lead to oversee our street works teams and manage significant projects within our traffic management division. This role has evolved significantly since its creation under the Traffic Management Act 2004, incorporating responsibilities such as highways licence and enforcement.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide leadership and tactical advice to the street works teams, managing an area generating £2 million in income.
  2. Oversee senior and principal engineers, ensuring effective delivery of projects and initiatives.
  3. Manage and develop policies and procedures related to traffic management and street works.
  4. Play a key role in legal cases related to highway licences and enforcement.
  5. Collaborate with a principal engineer to alleviate workload and enhance team efficiency.
  6. Engage in strategic planning and execution of traffic management orders and other regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
  1. Proven leadership skills and experience in change management.
  2. Strong background in financial management within a regulated discipline.
  3. Extensive knowledge of street works and traffic management sectors.
  4. Experience in local government or utility sectors is highly desirable, though relevant private sector experience will also be considered.
  5. Ability to provide strategic and tactical advice in policy and procedure development.
