About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Early Years Chef to join our team at Bright Horizons Wish Park Day Nursery and Preschool in Hove, East Sussex. As a key member of our nursery team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to our children, ensuring their dietary needs are met, and promoting healthy eating habits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook meals for children, adhering to food safety guidelines and minimizing waste
  • Manage and maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to internal and external standards
  • Lead cookery club sessions with children, promoting creativity and healthy eating
  • Support nursery activities, such as BBQs and fetes, and participate in staff meetings
  • Manage stock levels, record keeping, and ensure compliance with company procedures
  • Work collaboratively with the nursery team and parents to promote healthy eating and child welfare
Requirements
  • Previous experience in cooking in a domestic or commercial setting
  • Passion for nutrition and inspiring healthy eating habits
  • Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) - must be passed on day 1 in post
  • Sound knowledge of COSHH and managing dietary requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, with colleagues, children, and parents
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a positive attitude
