Assembly Build Specialist

At Oxford Instruments, we specialize in the development and production of cutting-edge technologies. Our team is responsible for the assembly build of high-tech products that are crucial for industries such as medical devices, electric cars, and quantum computing.
This is an excellent opportunity to join our Production team and work on the assembly build of complex systems. You will be responsible for building systems, sub-assemblies, and piece parts efficiently while meeting quality standards and schedules.
The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background and possess technical skills and knowledge. They should also be able to identify and resolve build problems, report technical issues, and maintain their levels of technical competence through training.
In this role, you will act as a point of reference for technicians within the build area, train and guide less experienced technicians, and set an example of the highest level of build cleanliness and health and safety issues.
You will contribute to the performance of the Production Team through continuous improvement initiatives and work on a rotating shift pattern in line with the rota notified to you by your Team Leader.
Requirements:
- A time-served electrical apprenticeship or City and Guilds part 3, or HND, HNC, or BTech level 3
- Detailed wiring skills to precision level, including lead-free soldering, panel wiring to schematics, and reading electrical drawings
- Able to fault find and implement corrective action
- Ideal combination of mechanical, electrical, and electronic assembly skills
- Ideal experience working in the semiconductor industry
- PC skills
- Highly committed team player
- High standards of build quality; flexible, co-operative, and willing; punctual and self-disciplined
- Good communication skills
