About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic optometrist to join our friendly team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute to providing high-quality optometry care to patients.

Job Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for working as an autonomous practitioner in a single-handed capacity without supervision, developing treatment plans for individual patients, and assessing patients pre-operatively. They will also be involved in highly specialist clinics, such as medical retina, and work closely with the community visual impairment team.

Responsibilities:

  1. To assess patients pre-operatively and discuss with the ophthalmologist the need for surgical intervention.
  2. To develop treatment plans for individual patients (orthoptic, ophthalmic, optical and surgical).
  3. To be involved in the following highly specialist clinics: Medical retina.
  4. To co-ordinate clinics ensure patients are given appropriate checks: Adult refraction, paediatric objective refraction.
  5. Assessment of eye movements, lid and pupils.

Requirements:

  • Optometry Degree
  • Registration with General Optical Council
  • Evidence of role extension
  • Teaching experience
  • MECS experience
  • Paediatric experience

Salary and Benefits:

The estimated salary for this position is £51,883 - £58,544 per annum, including high cost allowance, Pro Rata. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including flexible working arrangements, compressed hours, and opportunities for career development.
