Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Public Law Solicitor to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in public law, immigration, and asylum, with expertise in judicial review, civil liberties, and human rights. The role will involve managing a team of solicitors, trainee solicitors, and caseworkers, providing technical guidance and support, and supervising caseloads.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise a team of solicitors, trainee solicitors, and caseworkers
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on public law, immigration, and asylum matters
  • Supervise caseloads and ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Assist with training and development of the department
  • Deal with a range of public law work, including unlawful detention, false imprisonment, and human rights violations
  • Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency
  • Prepare draft documents, including witness statements and evidence
  • Attend conferences and court hearings
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Law Society Immigration Accreditation Level 2 (IAAS) and Supervisor
  • Strong management and leadership skills
  • Excellent client care skills and ability to deal with vulnerable clients
  • Proven supervisory experience and working to key performance indicators
  • Excellent networking and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the Legal Aid Guidance for Public Law matters
  • Experience in dealing with all Public Law related work
