About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Group Tax Manager to join our team at Howdens Joinery, a leading trade kitchen supplier and constituent of the FTSE 100. As a key member of our finance leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the tax strategy of our growing business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize the group's tax liabilities, ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
  • Assess tax risks and put in place appropriate controls and procedures.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, identifying opportunities for tax optimization and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with finance and operational teams on tax planning initiatives.
  • Oversee the accurate preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with all UK and International tax laws.
  • Manage tax audits and inquiries from HMRC, conduct research on complex tax issues, and stay updated on changes in tax legislation.
Requirements
  • ACA/AACA/CTA qualified with extensive experience in tax management, preferably within a complex organization or professional services firm.
  • Indepth knowledge of UK tax laws, regulations, and accounting principles, with experience managing tax affairs for multiple companies.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax issues and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Detailoriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
  • Ability to thrive in a fastpaced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Exceptional relationship building and management skills.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of building and motivating others.
