About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and group support for students with a range of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and other learning difficulties.
  • Collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons and resources to meet the individual needs of SEN students, ensuring full access to the curriculum.
  • Use positive behaviour management techniques to foster a calm and inclusive classroom environment, helping students develop social and emotional skills.
  • Track and assess student progress, documenting learning outcomes and liaising with teachers, parents, and external specialists to ensure effective interventions.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers, SEN coordinators, and external professionals to develop and implement effective strategies that meet each student's needs.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN or educational support setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs, particularly those facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.
  • GCSEs in Maths and English (minimum Level 2/C Grade).
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and adapting to the individual needs of students.
