Job Title: Lecturer in Chemistry

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to join our team as a Lecturer in Chemistry at North East Scotland College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and assessing chemistry courses to students at various levels, from National Certificate to Higher National Diploma.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemistry, with a particular emphasis on organic chemistry and analytical instrumentation. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with students and colleagues.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to study for a teaching qualification and will be contracted to obtain TQFE (Teaching Qualification in Further Education) once employment has commenced if they do not already hold a relevant teaching qualification.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach and assess chemistry courses to students at various levels
  • Develop and use appropriate learning/teaching/training materials

Requirements:
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry or a strongly related discipline
  • Qualifications appropriate for teaching and assessing organic chemistry and analytical instrumentation
  • Extensive experience of laboratory practical skills relating to chemistry and analytical instrumentation
  • Ability to teach across all sub-disciplines of chemistry
  • Teaching or training experience
  • Teaching qualification (TQFE or equivalent)
