Job Description

Finlay Jude Associates Ltd is recruiting a Group Health and Safety Manager on behalf of an excellent manufacturer and supplier of high-performance technical textiles.

Location: Rochdale

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing manufacturing facilities, ensuring health and safety compliance, and supporting ISO 9001 quality initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing training records and plans for all departmental staff
  • Preparing and distributing a monthly health and safety report for the management meeting
  • Ensuring safe operations, proper PPE usage, and a positive health and safety culture across the group
  • Tracking, logging, and managing all accidents, incidents, and near-misses monthly
  • Monitoring corrective action progress
  • Coordinating group-wide asbestos and fire risk assessments, managing action plans with General Managers
  • Identifying and delivering health & safety training needs, ensuring employee certifications remain valid
  • Conducting quarterly housekeeping inspections, documenting findings, and managing corrective actions with site leadership
  • Completing COSHH assessments and reviewing/compiling MSDS documentation
  • Developing and managing environmental controls for production processes
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and objectives
  • Managing external contractors on site, including issuing of permits to work and ensuring costs remain within the expected and agreed scope of works
  • Involved in developing SOPs and RAs for new and existing equipment, collaborating with site leadership
  • Managing Quality Management System documentation, facilitating external and internal audits, and supporting ISO accreditation for each Group company
Requirements
  • Flexible approach towards overtime and out of hours working
  • Experience within a Manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience of weaving, rubber production, and fabric coating machines preferable
  • Full driving licence and use of a car for occasional travel between locations
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • IOSH Managing Safely certificate, or equivalent
  • Must be flexible to travel to other sites as and when required based in Rochdale/Oldham
