Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Diabetes Midwifery Support Worker to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients with diabetes.

Main Duties
  • Support the midwives with clinics, patient education, phlebotomy, observations, documentation, and administration.
  • Assist with booking clinic appointments and documenting on the Badger Net system.
  • Work collaboratively with the diabetes specialist midwives to provide continuity of care to patients throughout their pregnancy journey.

Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • GCSE Maths Grades A-C, Levels 4-9, Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent.
    • GCSE English Grades A-C, Levels 4-9, Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent.
    • NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent experience.
    • Commit to undertake in-house training.
    • Care Certificate.
  • Desirable:
    • Foundation Degree Maternity Pathway.
Experience
  • Essential:
    • One year formal maternity care experience in a hospital/birth centre at Band 2 or above.
    • Experience of using hospital patient record systems.
    • Experience of working in an acute hospital setting.
    • Evidence of continuing professional development.
    • Understanding of Safeguarding issues.
    • Awareness of Health and Safety issues.
  • Desirable:
    • Previous diabetes work experience.

    • Positive attitude to training and development.
    • Ability to work 24-hour shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays.
