Middlemore is a Financial Services organisation based in Newcastle, seeking a highly skilled professional to join its team as the Head of Talent and Development.

Job Description

The successful candidate will form part of a newly created People function, reporting directly to the Chief People Officer. As the Head of Talent and Development, you will lead the organisation's talent strategy, focusing on implementing and embedding it across the business. Your primary responsibility will be to amplify the performance of the company by developing and executing effective talent management and succession planning initiatives.

Main Responsibilities
  • Executive and Leadership Development: Work closely with the Chief People Officer to deliver outstanding executive and leadership development programs, providing best-in-class investment in capability.
  • Talent and Development Strategy: Design and implement a comprehensive talent strategy that aligns with the firm's objectives, engaging and retaining top talent in the market.
  • Talent Management and Succession Planning: Develop and execute a robust approach to attract, engage, and retain exceptional talent, ensuring seamless succession planning for key roles.
  • Training Needs Analysis: Identify training needs, support professional and personal development, and nurture careers in both regulated and non-regulated areas.
  • Senior Leader Coaching: Coach and develop senior leaders across the group through one-to-one coaching sessions.
  • Employee Engagement: Lead employee engagement processes and initiatives, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Agenda: Support and embed the DEI agenda, maintaining an external view of trends and movements, ensuring the company remains committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Performance Management Framework: Collaborate with the HR team to support the performance management framework and process, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Learning and Training Vendors: Assist in selecting learning and training vendors, manage relationships, and optimise learning impact, guiding learning initiatives created and delivered by external vendors.
Candidate Requirements
  • Talent Development Experience: Proven experience as a Talent Development Specialist with responsibility for leading a talent strategy, ideally within a Financial Services environment.
  • Leadership Development: Experience developing and coaching leaders, driving growth and improvement in their performance.
  • Vendor Management: Experience dealing with external vendors, managing learning budgets, and delivering results-driven learning initiatives.
  • Strong Interest in DEI: A genuine interest in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, with a commitment to creating a workplace culture that values diversity and promotes inclusion.
  • Learning Management Systems: Familiarity with Learning Management Systems, able to navigate and utilise these tools effectively.
Benefits and Remuneration

We offer a competitive salary package of £80,000 - £100,000 per annum, reflecting your skills and experience, along with excellent benefits, including a generous pension scheme, flexible working hours, and opportunities for career growth and development within our dynamic and forward-thinking organisation.
