About Us:

Virginia Peninsula Community College is a two-year institution of higher education serving the residents of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg, and the counties of James City and York.

Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience, estimated at $40,000 - $60,000 per year.

Job Description:

We are seeking part-time instructors to teach machining labs to both dual enrollment high school students and traditional college students. This position will also team teach with other college faculty in the CADD/Machining programs.

Responsibilities:

• Design and delivery of instruction for day and evening classes.
• Responsible for student assessment and grading.
• Maintains adequate on-campus presence.
• Provides timely communication with students, staff and administrators of the College.

Requirements:

• A High School Diploma or GED, or Apprentice School Graduate, or 5 years of Manual Machining Experience.
• Experience in layout and benchwork, operation of milling machine, lathe, bandsaw, drill press, disk and belt sander, grinder, measuring instruments, basic hand tools and other shop equipment.
• Possession of a passion for the discipline and commitment to a student-centered philosophy in support of academic excellence for diverse groups of learners.
• Excellent interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff and administrators as an individual or as a part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of CNC.
• An Associate's degree in Machining or a related technical degree (i.e., an Apprenticeship).
