We are seeking an exceptional Lead Legal Strategist and Governance Advisor to join our Legal team. Your primary responsibilities will involve ensuring the successful delivery of our strategic priorities by providing sound and timely legal and governance advice to senior officers, members, and the Metro Mayor.

About the Role
  • You will be responsible for acting as the Deputy Monitoring Officer, offering expert guidance on internal and external governance controls, consultation, engagement, and decision-making processes.
  • Your key duties will also include presenting complex information, legal or statutory considerations, and strategic advice to the corporate leadership team, Metro Mayor, and other stakeholders.

To excel in this role, you should have a strong ability to make risk-based legal judgments, possess in-depth knowledge of public sector legal frameworks, and maintain high standards of professional conduct and strategic awareness.

Our Offer
  • A competitive annual salary of £60,000 - £80,000, dependent on experience.
  • An excellent benefits package including 26/31 days annual leave, reduced fare bus travel across the West of England, and flexible working options from day one.
