We are seeking a talented and ambitious Graduate Planning Consultant to join our dynamic team at Hume Planning Consultancy Ltd.

Hume Planning Consultancy Ltd is an independent planning consultancy established in 2001, providing expert advice on development projects predominantly in London and the South East region.

We pride ourselves on delivering practical and professional input, building long-term relationships with clients, and facilitating investment in attractive, well-functioning places.

The Opportunity:

This role offers a unique chance for a recent graduate to develop their skills and knowledge as a Planning Consultant, working on a diverse range of projects including residential developments, commercial proposals, and leisure projects.

You will be involved in all aspects of project work, from reviewing key planning policy documents to researching new enquiries and contributing to planning statements.

Your role will include navigating local planning authority portals, assessing site context and physical/policy constraints, and progressing new enquiry projects.

In addition to technical skills, you will also have opportunities to develop your time management, organisational, and communication skills.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about planning and creative solutions to development, with a strong desire to build a career in this field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review of key planning policy documents and guidance
  • Navigating LPA planning portals, planning history search, assessment of site context and physical/policy constraints
  • Research for new enquiries and planning appraisals
  • Cataloguing and progressing new enquiry projects
  • Contribution to Planning Statements
  • Assistance with general admin tasks around the office, including answering phones and taking messages

Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant field (e.g., planning, geography, architecture)
  • Strong understanding of planning principles and policies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to plan ahead, understand commercial aspects of planning process
  • Valid UK driver's licence

Salary:

The salary for this role is £25,000-£30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
