Control and Instrumentation Specialist

At AWE Plc, we are seeking an experienced Control and Instrumentation Specialist to join our team of professionals responsible for delivering high-quality training to our apprentices.
This role is a great opportunity for a qualified engineer with a background in control and instrumentation maintenance and installation to develop their skills in training and development.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of control and instrumentation systems and be able to design, deliver, and evaluate training programmes for our apprentices.
The successful candidate will also have excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work with a diverse range of people and grades across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, deliver, and evaluate training programmes for control and instrumentation apprentices
- Optimise, organise, develop, and deliver skills and underpinning knowledge training for allocated apprentices
- Have or be willing to obtain teacher and assessor status and maintain it via continued professional development activity
- Work as part of the Skills Academy team to ensure that defined company and national contracted requirements for development are met
- Assure, assess, and/or instruct apprentices' skills, knowledge, and behaviours, including during work-based learning
- Line manage apprentices, including company performance management process and identify and address development needs and assessment using recognised company and academy processes
- Lead a team of approximately 12 direct reports

This role requires a qualified engineer with experience in control and instrumentation maintenance and installation holding at least a BTEC/City and Guilds Level 3 or equivalent.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of control and instrumentation systems, excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to work with a diverse range of people and grades across the business.
As part of this role, you must:
- Undertake and pass a CRB check
- Have the ability and affinity for working with a diverse range of people and grades across the business, particularly young people
- Have the ability to attend off-site events, which may include short periods away from home, including overnight stays
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role.
