We are seeking a highly skilled Research Fellow to join our team at the University of Edinburgh. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking original research in AI-driven Financial Computing, working closely with the School of Informatics and the Centre for Investment Innovation.
About the Role
This is a fixed-term position for 24 months, with the opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge project in NLP and financial asset management. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Finance, AI, and NLP, with experience in running large-scale NLP models and software development.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake original research in AI-driven Financial Computing, with a focus on NLP and large language model-based financial asset management and decision support systems.
- Collaborate with the School of Informatics and the Centre for Investment Innovation to develop and implement AI/NLP/LLM models for financial text analysis.
- Contribute to the development of software prototypes and experiment testbeds for benchmarking NLP/ML models.
- Engage with industry collaborators, particularly in the finance sector, to apply AI/NLP/LLM models for financial asset management.
- Present research findings and publications in high-quality journals and international conferences.
Requirements
- PhD in Finance, AI, or NLP, with experience in running large-scale NLP models and software development.
- Strong research skills in NLP and large language model-based financial text analysis.
- Experience in software development, particularly in Python and PyTorch.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, with experience in presenting research findings and publications.
- Ability to work collaboratively with industry collaborators and academic researchers.
Desirable Skills
- Proficiency in Linux and physics simulators (Gazebo).
- Experience in applying foundation models in computer vision.
- Background in Soft/Flexible Robotics.
