We are seeking a skilled and motivated Culinary Caretaker to join our team at Smart Start Nursery School, part of the Storal group.

Job Summary

This role involves preparing nutritious meals for children, ensuring their safety and well-being while they are in our care. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen, as well as adhering to health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities
  1. Prepare healthy and balanced meals for all children attending the nursery, taking into account any dietary needs or restrictions.
  2. Maintain the highest standards of food hygiene and safety, following guidelines from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and Ofsted.
  3. Ensure that all children are supervised and safe at all times, promoting rich and stimulating experiences through mealtime.
  4. Manage stock levels, rotating stock to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
  5. Be aware of COSHH guidelines and implement them accordingly.
  6. Act as deputy cook in the absence of the primary cook, with the expectation of covering full-time when required.
Requirements
  1. A Level 2 Food and Hygiene qualification.
  2. A minimum of six months' experience in a similar role.
  3. Understanding of health and safety regulations, including COSHH.
  4. A commitment to reflecting Storal's values, particularly responsibility, openness, and teamwork.
