Avara Foods, a major player in the UK food industry, is recruiting a skilled Hatchery Machinery Technician to join its team at the Quainton Hatchery in Buckinghamshire.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining hatchery machinery and associated plant and ancillary equipment on a daily basis, as well as carrying out ongoing improvement projects. This is a challenging role that requires strong mechanical skills, including experience with lifting and moving heavy equipment up to 25kgs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair hatchery machinery and associated plant and equipment
  • Carry out ongoing improvement projects to enhance efficiency and productivity
  • Lift and move heavy equipment up to 25kgs
Requirements

We are looking for a qualified engineer with a broad understanding of mechanical processes and a good understanding of mechanical assemblies. Experience in facilities maintenance, including welding and fabrication, plumbing, and pipe fitting is also essential. The successful candidate will be a good team player with effective communication skills, committed and reliable, and able to use their own initiative and work independently if required.

Working Hours

The working hours for this role include:

  • Weeks 1-3: Monday to Friday, 06:00 to 15:30 (with a 75-minute unpaid break)
  • Week 4: Monday to Friday, 06:00 to 15:30 (with a 75-minute unpaid break), plus Saturday, 06:00 to 15:30 (with a 75-minute unpaid break)

Callouts within the rota will be agreed with management and paid at £25 per call out plus hours worked at time and half.
