The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Transportation Planner to join our team in Edinburgh or Glasgow. Our transport planners and consultants work with transport agencies, operators, national and local governments, and the private sector to solve pressing challenges. We develop active travel policies and strategies, design cycle and walking infrastructure, analyse accessibility and inclusivity, and advise on behavioural change, bike sharing, and wayfinding.

As a Senior Transportation Planner, you will support the team in delivering key projects and manage individual projects as a project manager. You will assist and lead bids/submissions and work winning activities around all aspects of active travel and behavioural change themes. You will also be comfortable in stakeholder and community engagement, working within multi-disciplinary teams across Arup.

Requirements:

  • A background in transport planning with knowledge across a range of areas, especially active travel and behaviour change.
  • Experience of writing and presenting technical reports and bids, including business development skills.
  • Proven experience of leading projects including all quality, commercial, and health & safety aspects.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who have a strong interest in the Planning, Design, and Consultation of active travel schemes and behaviour change programmes. The successful candidate should have a track record of winning, managing, and delivering quality outputs aligned with project deadlines.

You will participate and lead meetings with transport agencies, operators, local authorities, and private sector clients to demonstrate competence, understanding, and a problem-solving attitude.
