The Role

As a Learning Support Professional at The Sheffield College, you will play a vital part in ensuring that students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) have access to quality education. You will work closely with teachers and tutorial mentors to support students in overcoming barriers to learning, both in and out of the classroom.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting students with a wide range of teaching and learning activities
  • Working closely with learners to overcome barriers and get the most out of college
  • Providing intimate support and personal care for high-needs students
  • Playing an integral part in the safeguarding of young people
  • Championing our commitment to putting students first
  • Promoting our values of fairness, respect, and equality

Success in this role would look like:

  • Completed and engaged with all mandatory training and enthusiastically got involved with staff development
  • Used recognised standards for working with SEND needs
  • Engaged and committed to our Go-further review process and CPD programmes
  • Built strong working relationships and supported colleagues where possible

Requirements:

  • Ability to support students with learning difficulties and disabilities
  • Knowledge of SEND support
  • Excitement to bring fresh ideas to the table and help us constantly improve
