Job Title: Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Psychology Graduate to join our team as a Teaching Assistant in an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Audenshaw.

Job Overview:

This full-time role is set to begin in October and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the position to become permanent based on performance. The role offers a weekly salary between £419.25 and £500.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Student Support: Provide targeted assistance to students with additional learning needs, including those with emotional, social, and behavioural challenges.
  • Classroom Assistance: Collaborate with teachers to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment, assisting in managing classroom activities and ensuring all students are engaged and participating fully in lessons.
  • Behavioural and Emotional Interventions: Support the implementation of behaviour management strategies and social-emotional interventions, working with the school's pastoral team to monitor and support students' emotional wellbeing.
  • Learning and Development: Assist in the development and delivery of tailored learning plans for students with special educational needs, contributing to the assessment of students' progress and the adjustment of strategies to meet their evolving needs.
  • Pastoral Care: Act as a mentor and role model for students, fostering a positive and trusting relationship with them, and supporting their development of confidence, coping strategies, and academic and social skills.
  • Parental Engagement: Work with parents and carers to provide updates on their child's progress and develop collaborative approaches to support learning and development at home.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of students' progress, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing, reporting regularly to teachers and the pastoral team to contribute to the planning and review of student support strategies.
Requirements:
  • A recent psychology graduate with a strong interest in educational psychology, teaching, or child development.
  • Experience working with young people, particularly those with additional needs, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine passion for supporting the development and wellbeing of young people.
  • An understanding of behaviour management techniques and a willingness to learn and apply these in a school setting.
  • A proactive and flexible attitude, ready to adapt to the dynamic needs of students and the school environment.
