We are seeking a Highway Compliance Specialist to join our team in Cumbria.

Location: Cumbria GB, Site based

About the Role:
  • Ensure Viberoptix site activity is compliant with NRSWA 1991, TMA and associated legislations.
  • Carry out inspections and monitor works to ensure they are being undertaken safely and in accordance with current requirements.
  • Provide guidance and training to on-site staff and complete corrective actions when non-conformances are identified.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders (internal/external) to provide feedback from site inspections and drive improvement throughout network construction.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with authorities.
  • Produce weekly and monthly reports detailing audit completions, issues, and trends from site.
  • Provide support for authority escalations in real-time and attend site meetings when required.
  • Gather evidence to support challenges to highway legislation or health & safety and implement avoidance actions as necessary.
  • Utilise NRSWA hosted streetworks noticing systems for interrogation, analysis, and investigation of inspections.
  • Lead on programmes of coring, collation, investigation, and reporting findings to the Head of Build.
  • Attend authority meetings to disclose information on site findings and technical information.
  • Engage in contractor training workshops to reduce risk to company reputation.
  • Carry out supervisory duties regarding works on site.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Able to demonstrate experience of NRSWA 1991 and associated legislation.
  • Familiarity with inspecting works in line with the SROH and Safety at Road and Street Works Code of Practice.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good organisational skills, including prioritisation, decision-making, time management, and negotiation.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple build partners and stakeholders (Internal/External).

Salary Information:

An estimated salary for this role is £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience.
