Dental Nurse Trainee Position

Job Overview:
Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest and busiest teaching Trusts in the UK, providing a full range of local and specialist services across its five sites. As a Trainee Dental Nurse with our organisation, you will undergo clinical and theoretical training to work effectively as a dental nurse. The training will lead to completion of the Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing (City & Guilds) and registration with the General Dental Council.
The training will take place across various departments and specialties within the dental hospital, including Oral Surgery, Orthodontic Treatment, Community & Special Care, and Primary Dental Care. You will be under the supervision of qualified dental nurses at all times whilst gaining your experience in these areas.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend all teaching sessions, tutorials, and portfolio development sessions to ensure maximum benefit from the training provided.
- Co-operate with trainers and assessors in the completion of portfolios, assessment records, projects, and assignments designed to help you learn and show competence as a dental nurse.
- Provide support to other dental nurse trainees.
- Adhere to the training agreement/contract, which is reviewed periodically.
- Meet with external visitors on quality assurance inspections.
Detailed Job Description:
As a Trainee Dental Nurse, you will provide chair-side support during all dental procedures, maintain and restock dental instruments and equipment, and assist members of the dental team during clinical procedures. You will also liaise with dental, technical, nursing, and clerical staff to provide total patient care.
Person Specification:
- GCSE English Language Level 4 and above or equivalent qualification
- Demonstrates knowledge of the role of a dental nurse and an understanding and interest in dental nursing as a career
- Ability to demonstrate attention to detail in written work
- Studied further qualifications such as A Levels, HND, BTEC, Diploma, or Degree
- Additional training/courses in BLS/First Aid, Safeguarding, Moving & Handling, Health & Safety, or Infection Control
Salary and Benefits:
This salaried position comes with a competitive annual salary of £29,029 per annum pro rata, inclusive of HCA. You will also receive comprehensive training and development opportunities, as well as the chance to work in a dynamic and supportive environment.
