Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to join our team at Derbyshire County Council. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for delivering the People Services Category workplan of procurements and be involved in the entire procurement process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify requirements and work with commissioners to develop procurement strategies
  • Research and plan procurement projects, including tendering and contract award
  • Lead the evaluation, moderation, and contract award stages of procurement projects
  • Deliver multiple complex projects simultaneously, thinking creatively to procure services
  • Communicate and negotiate effectively at all levels, handling conflicting views and sensitive situations
  • Use data analysis skills and proficiency in Excel and Word to support procurement activities
  • Utilize the Council's e-tendering portal, ProContract, to run tender projects

Requirements

  • Experience in a strategic procurement role, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Ability to work in a hybrid model, with a minimum of 4 days per month in our offices in Matlock
