Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced professional to lead and deliver a University-wide asbestos advice service, and contribute to its wider health and safety.
About the Role: As an Asbestos and Safety Compliance Advisor, you will maintain the University's Asbestos Management Plan and the Asbestos Register. You will provide training and advice to staff on asbestos and other estates-related topics, including management of contractors, permit-to-work, isolations, confined spaces, and events on the University estate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective asbestos control strategies to ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to staff on asbestos-related matters, including risk assessment, management, and removal.
- Collaborate with the Health and Safety Services team to develop and deliver health and safety training programs.
- Contribute to the development of the University's health and safety policies and procedures.
- Work closely with contractors and external partners to ensure effective management of asbestos-related risks.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in asbestos control and management.
- Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine commitment to occupational health and safety and to contributing to a team serving a large organization with a varied set of hazards.
