Main Responsibilities

The role of Junior Sister/Charge Nurse in the Children's Emergency Department at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust involves providing supervision and support to the multidisciplinary team. This includes acting as shift coordinator, developing and managing team performance, promoting effective communication and teamwork, and demonstrating clinical leadership skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in managing staff within the Emergency Department, including human resource management, clinical governance, and risk management. They will also contribute to the strategic and operational development of the department.

Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years acute care experience
  • UK recognised Degree in Nursing relevant to post
  • Post-graduate qualification related to an area of practice
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain and contribute to the development of standards of practice, conduct or decision making in conjunction with team leaders/ward manager/unit co-ordinator
  • Able to supervise non-registered and less experienced staff to ensure effective care delivery
  • Able to effectively and appropriately escalate concerns to reduce risk and promote patient safety
