The Department of Biochemistry at Cambridge University seeks a skilled Food Service Assistant to join its existing catering team. This exciting opportunity involves providing excellent food services to students, faculty, and staff in the university's academic environment. Key responsibilities include setting up and clearing down service areas, assisting with food preparation tasks, serving food, operating tills, cleaning and re-stocking, and monitoring food temperatures.

Working in a Small Catering Facility
The successful candidate will join a friendly and professional support team, working in a small catering facility with multiple responsibilities, including:
- Setting up and clearing down of service areas for events and daily operations
- Assisting with food preparation tasks such as chopping vegetables, cooking meals, and plating dishes
- Serving food to customers in a timely and professional manner
- Operating cash registers and processing transactions accurately
- Cleaning and re-stocking kitchen utensils and equipment
- Monitoring and recording food temperatures to ensure safe storage and serving

Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain high standards in a fast-paced environment
- Basic food preparation skills desirable, but full training will be provided

Compensation and Benefits
The estimated annual salary for this position is £25,000-£28,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
