Job Title: Senior Management Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Management Accountant to join our Finance Team at Derbyshire Community Health Services NHSFT.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and performing financial services for the Estates & Facilities Directorate, as well as developing the Trust's Patient Level Costing System.

As an integral member of the Management Team, you will provide high-quality and professional financial information, support, and expert advice to services and assist them in achieving their financial objectives.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver accurate and timely financial information, ensuring the financial position for your area is fully understood and reported, and advising budget managers within set financial parameters.
  2. Line management responsibility for staff who support the post-holder.
  3. Ensure the Trust complies with NHS Costing standards and delivers accurate statutory costing returns and quality SLR and PLICS reporting information to internally agreed timetables.
  4. Produce and analyze complex financial information and advice in line with strategic business plans.
  5. Produce a monthly financial forecast in conjunction with relevant budget holders, review forecasts, and highlight material changes.
  6. Continuously review and challenge significant variances with the Management Accountant.
  7. Lead and produce a monthly financial performance report to meet financial reporting timescales, highlighting key issues and risks to the Divisional Director and the Director of Finance.
  8. Act as a functional link between Finance Team and other corporate support functions in the development and improvement of PLICS information and reporting.
  9. Work with Senior MAs and service leaders to develop finance and cost information that helps drive organizational decision-making.
  10. Develop and train PLICS within the finance team along with ownership of training and information standards related to PLICS.

Our purpose is to provide community health services to a patient population of over one million people in Derbyshire and Derby, as part of Joined Up Care Derbyshire.

We employ around 4,200 substantive staff, caring for patients in 11 community hospitals and more than 30 health centres, as well as in clinics, GP practices, schools, care homes, and increasingly, in people's own homes and via virtual consultations.

Requirements:
  • CCAB qualified or suitable equivalent experience.
  • Excellent IT skills including the ability to design and utilize databases/spreadsheets for analyzing large/complex volumes of numerical and other information.
  • Background in Management Accounts and Costing.
Skills and Attributes:
  • Ability to analyze and interpret highly complex financial issues and present solutions to non-finance managers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and financial ledger systems.
  • Confident in presenting complex information to non-financial managers.
Aptitude and Personal Qualities:
  • Strong communication skills, including influencing and negotiating.
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development.
