Stray Dog Handler

Our established company provides humane stray dog handling and pest control services, including wasp, rat, and insect infestations. As a Dog Warden, you will be responsible for capturing stray dogs, reunifying them with owners, or transferring them to Battersea Dog Home or foster families.

The ideal candidate will reside within a 20-mile radius of Slough, with easy access to Milton Keynes, Greenwich, Bromley, London, and surrounding areas. A full, clean driving license obtained at least three years ago is essential for this role.

This position involves working on a shift basis, operating 365 days a year, including Christmas Day. The schedule includes four 10-hour shifts per week, some of which may involve weekend work as required.

• Day Shift: 9am - 5pm
• Mid Shift: 9am - 7pm
• Night Shift: 4pm - 4am (only for night staff holidays)

• Capture stray dogs and reunify them with their owners or transfer them to Battersea Dog Home or foster families.
• Work closely with local vets to provide treatment for injured or ill dogs.
• Precise reporting and form completion for local councils.
• Effective management of frightened and aggressive dogs.
• Ensure optimal dog welfare at kennels, including feeding and cleanliness.

• Capacity to work four 10-hour shifts per week with three days off, including weekend work as required.
• Full driving license with three years' driving experience, preferably of driving a light commercial vehicle.
• Proficiency in IT systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook & Excel).
• Practical experience working with animals, specifically dogs, preferably with kennel and/or veterinary nursing experience.
• Physical ability to lift dogs and dog crates onto vehicles.
• Flexibility to work day, mid, and night shifts on a rota basis.
• Ability to pass a DBS check.

This temporary to permanent position offers a competitive hourly wage of £12, with a shift bonus allowance once training is completed, increasing to £14.30 per hour. Additional shift and performance incentives are also provided.
