Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Food Technology and Nutrition to students in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching practical skills and promoting healthy eating habits among students.
Key Responsibilities:- Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons covering a variety of topics, including cooking methods, recipe development, food preparation, and nutrition.
- Practical Cooking: Lead practical cooking sessions in the school kitchen, guiding students in preparing and cooking a range of dishes while promoting safe food handling practices and kitchen hygiene.
- Nutritional Education: Educate students about the importance of nutrition, balanced diets, and healthy eating habits, empowering them to make informed choices about their food intake and dietary habits.
- Food Technology: Introduce students to food technology concepts and processes, such as food preservation, packaging, and food product development, fostering their understanding of the food industry and technological innovations.
- Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess student practical skills and knowledge through practical demonstrations, food tasting sessions, and written assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their learning and development.
- Behaviour Management: Establish a positive and supportive learning environment in the kitchen, implementing effective behaviour management strategies that promote teamwork, respect, and responsibility.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Design and Technology department and across the school to share best practices, resources, and ideas for enhancing teaching and learning.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in Food Technology, Home Economics, or related field.
- Strong practical skills and knowledge in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management.
- Previous experience teaching Food Technology or Home Economics at the secondary level, preferably within a UK school setting.
- Enthusiasm for teaching practical skills and promoting healthy eating habits among students.
- Commitment to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment in the kitchen.
- Competitive salary ranging from £30,000 to £46,525 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
